Week 594 – Riddle Induced Spinal Problems, Look Deep And I Loved The Ice-Cream Ones.

Here we are at Week 594.

Before we start, I need to answer the question that I asked in my last posting –

Swims is the word that is the same upside down as it is right side up.

I’m just looking outside and there is a window cleaner with a ladder. Do you know what you call a window cleaner with a ladder?

Anyhow that made me think on something that I’d forgotten about. I love this!

This has been an exciting week for Britain. England have shown how many goals they can lose and still win when fuck all matters. But they are no worse than Argentina as runner up is first loser.

We now have our seventh prime minister in ten years. Ladbrooks aren’t taking any more bets that big Don will make it eight!!!

To be honest, I hope Andy Burnham proves me wrong. I have a hatred for politicians, especially MPs. But he is the first person that has held that position that I haven’t wanted to smash their stupid looking face in due to their stupid looking face. I’m fed up with the richest in our society making decisions for the poorest. Seemingly, Mr Burnham has, for years now, donated fifteen percent of his yearly earnings to charities. I do wonder who made that known??

– BAD SCEPTICAL SHUG!!! GIVE THE MAN A CHANCE!!!!

I’ll say it again – I hope he proves me wrong!!!!!!

Now, talking about those in Westminster, due to recent events, I did have a whole posting. But however I tried to word it, it came out wrong. But thank you Mr ‘I was PM but even though I didn’t, I got my jotters Starmer’ His quote and a wee search makes a point that I don’t need to.

Starmer – ‘It is chilling that during my time in parliament, 11 years, three serving or former MPs have been murdered.’

Average figures in Britain – 629 murders per year. Over eleven years that makes 6919.

I want to address a topic that our lovely Leila brought up on last week’s post. It was regarding how much our childhood or past was reflected in our writing. I’m repeating my comment to her but her question and my answer has stuck with me and I am still thinking on it. Sorry if you have already read this, I’m not being self-indulgent, I would like to look at this deeper –

You have given me something to think on.

Off the top of my head, I don’t think (??) that any of my child insecurities have either crept into or been omitted from any stories that I’ve written. I know that there is a reason for that – I don’t want to revisit the first twelve years that I was on this planet. I wasn’t abused or anything like that, it was simply living with myself in my own head that was the fucking problem. I also think that’s where I get a more reporting style of story-telling and I can distance myself from opinion and comment.

What I want to ask and for you to think on is this. If there is any topic that you wouldn’t take on, has that anything to do with past history??

I don’t want details, that’s nobody’s business, just a simple yes or no answer.

Leila also mentioned Karen Carpenter who had a stunning voice. I commented that this lady was up there with her. I’ve played this before but check out her work.

Okay onto the week that was and the stories that were.

We had two new folks, a returner, a sixth timer and a fellow who is a regular commentator and now has forty stories under his belt.

To the newsters, as always, we welcome them, hope that they have fun on the site and continue to send in their work.

First up on Monday was our first new writer. ‘Inside The Possum Coat’ was penned by Patrick G. Roland.

‘Not an easy read but worthwhile.’

‘You need to stick with this.’

‘This may split opinions.’

Next up on Tuesday was our next new writer, Rasmenia Massoud. Her story was entitled, ‘Pissing Bullies’

‘This had a lot going for it,’

‘The relationship between the narrator and her father was lovely.’

‘This was done very well.’

We broke the back of the week with Harrison Kim, he has been a great friend of the site and had his fortieth story published which was called, ‘Between Vern And Alex.’

‘Harrison always makes you think.’

‘There is quite a bit of humour throughout.’

‘This looks into the gloom!’

Matias Travieso-Diaz is a tenacious writer with a sound heart. His sixth story for us was entitled, ‘Death In A Gourd’

‘A bit weird, but I liked it.’

‘The dead pan delivery is excellent.’

‘Interesting!’

And we finished off the week with Peter Biles who returned for a second time (That’s a bit obvious!!!) with ‘Gary’s Magic Trashcan.’

‘This was an out the out-field sort of thing.’

‘I was drawn to this due to the title.’

‘Really quite amusing.’
