Christmas Rerun – A Little Red Wagon, A Long Remembered Face by Tom Sheehan

Merry Christmas, even to the humbuggers. Today we present two in a series we call the Reruns of Christmas. James McEwan began this party yesterday, which will last through Sunday. And there will be no rest for the wicked because the new year begins with new stories next Monday.

This touching piece by site master, Tom Sheehan, goes back to a time that most people today were still a long way from being born. And yet it still lives, thanks to Tom’s guiding hand.

Merry Christmas to all, including from the 1930’s in the American Northeast.

We have asked the author’s of these re-runs to add a few comments if they wish and Tom has sent us this:

“The Small Red Wagon” made a big splash as an artful Idea entry at half a page in the Boston Globe’s Idea section in 2021, with comments galore, right to the different wheel types on that old red wagon of mine, the details absolute.

All the signatures of my squad are on a Korean 1000 Won Banknote and it has been in my wallet since 1951.

Sheehan, Tom

  1. What a great story! Perfect in its detail and balance and just right for the season. A wonderful start to a grey and drizzly (but not so cold) Xmas morning!
