Literally Reruns – The Brush Off by Diane M Dickson

Diane M. Dickson is a successful Crime novelist; I’ve read three of her excellent eighteen books so far, but I have yet to see anything like the Brush Off in any of them.

Hoo-wee! What we have here! I can’t say too much without giving away the story. But I can tell you that it will definitely give male readers pause to think. And, somehow, Diane inserted a bit of the melancholy that so often comes along with life’s absurdities into the piece. About a thousand little jokes come to mind right now, but I think I’d rather you read the story.

Q: I love it, but what on God’s Earth caused you to think it up?

Q: Was it difficult to measure the poignant and comic aspects of the piece?

Oh lord. I’d forgotten about this one. The answer to the question is, I’m afraid, far too obvious. I was using some heated curling tongs and I dropped them and grabbed out to catch them and burned my fingers. I’m afraid to say that led to this! I think I then obliterated the story from my memory until you dug down and found it snickering in the corner!

No, I don’t think so. Life is poignant and comic and all the other things isn’t it and from what I remember this was one of those that just developed as I typed. Ha, just writing that now makes me wonder about my mind and where it goes!! I’ll go and scrub my brain with Clorox as penance. Thanks for unearthing this one – I’ll admit it gave me a laugh.

  1. Hi Ladies,
Two of my favourite folks in the one posting!!
    Loved seeing this again!
What is even better is knowing the respect you have for one and other. (Or is that ‘another’ – No surely it’s ‘other’ I can’t make it out, my drawl makes it a bastardisation of both!!)
So if I say, the respect you have for each other, it stops me looking like a tit!

Brilliant as always to both of you!!!!!
