Mary Jo Thomas is a writer who has published in THE AMERICAN POETRY
REVIEW, THE GETTYSBURG REVIEW, and THE ROANOKE REVIEW
among other journals. She has also written articles for newspapers and civic
magazines.
Thomas took her Ph.D. from the University of Florida in Gainesville, where she
studied writing for seven years under the tutelage of the Pulitzer recipient, Donald
Justice. She taught creative writing and American Literature at Berea College in
Kentucky for many years.
She has returned to Gainesville to retire. A recluse, she shares her life and home
with her two cats, Javier and Fern, and her dog, Harriet.
