Andrew Miller writes prose from an island off the Maine coast in summer, from northern Florida in winter. Since the seventh grade he wanted to pursue creative writing, but was sidetracked by the environmental movement of the 1960s. During his career in government research and teaching, he published technical articles on environmental issues, endangered species, and freshwater mussels. Since retiring from teaching and research, he has had more time to read, write, and pursue other interests. In addition to his wife, children, grandchildren, and Smokey the cat, he loves fresh vegetables and fruits from his gardens, imperial stouts, viscus red wines, and restoring antique leaded glass windows.
