Ntombi K lives in the Vaal area of Evaton (South Africa), where the real and the non-real have always bled into each other. In an early childhood incident, she consumed sullied water after which, her brother told her she was going to die. She believed it. Took a plastic chair and spent the rest of the afternoon outside – waiting to die. Her mother arrived from work and found her seated outside. She told her what had happened whereupon her mother pleaded with death to leave her alone. And, it did. She went inside the house where she now reads and writes fictions and non-fiction, and preps for an Adaptation/Writing/Theatre-making course she teaches at Wits University.
